Our Journey

When my baby sister passed away on April 27th, 2007, I was five months pregnant
with my first child - my son Alexander.   Megan already knew I was having a boy,
and she knew that I had chosen the name Alexander.  Megan anticipated the arrival
of her nephew Alex with great joy and love.   She purchased clothing, toys, and a
scrapbook for Alex and often spoke about him.   On Christmas day, Alexander wore
a "Baby's First Christmas" onesie that Megan had purchased for him.   To honor the
connection between my baby sister and my baby son, I developed the scrapbook in
her absence, so that someday Alexander might also know his Auntie, in some small
way.

I believe that love survived Megan's accident.  By that, I mean she is still with me
and with her friends and family.   I made this website out of love.  I created the
Megan L. Kleczka Endowed Scholarship out of love.
And out of love, I invite you to
participate with me.

Who We Are
Love Survives.  And so, we survive.
This site was created and
designed by Sarah Sansom,
Megan's sister.   Older by 9
years, Sarah refers to
Megan as "my baby sister."
Most "I" statements on this
website are by Sarah unless
otherwise noted.

Countless people have
contributed to the Megan L.
Kleczka Endowed
Scholarship with financial or
personal resources.  Now
that we have reached our
goal,  Sarah and Casey
Beaupre will updating this
site to focus more
exclusively on
"a
celebration
of Megan
Kleczka" and her life.

Please contact Sarah or
Casey if you would like to
contribute stories,  photos or
any other items for
inclusion:

The following criteria has been established for the selection of the annual recipient of the
Megan L. Kleczka Endowed Scholarship:

The recipient(s) must be a full-time student at Eastern Connecticut State University in good
academic standing and committed to women’s social issues, for example,  sexual health
education, sexual assault services and/or reproductive justice.  Preference will be given to a
student in the field of women’s studies, social work or sociology with financial need.

The scholarship will be awarded for the first time in the spring of 2009 for use in the Fall
2009 semester.   A scholarship will be awarded annually thereafter in a minimum amount
of $500.   The principal is never depleted, so the scholarship is awarded
ad infinitum.

If you have any questions about the scholarship or application process, or any question
about Megan's legacy that has not been answered here, please contact Sarah Sansom at:
